U.S. EPA’s Water Security Division has just published A Critical Connection: The Water and Healthcare/Public Health Sectors, a guidance document that provides concise information to entities in both sectors about building relationships, coordinating preparedness, coordinating water use advisories, working together on water quality, and allying with poison control centers. The document emphasizes that water utilities and their partners in the healthcare and public health sector working together before and during emergencies minimizes detrimental impacts to the public, which it further illustrates with a series of quick case studies.
