EPA’s Creating Resilient Water Utilities (CRWU) team has confirmed four new regional Climate Resilience Evaluation and Awareness Tool (CREAT) utility exercises, in Trenton, NJ; Lafayette Parrish, LA; Traverse City, MI; and Nashville, TN. These will be conducted in addition to ongoing exercises in Durham, NC and Puerto Rico. Using CREAT, the CRWU team will provide climate change risk assessment technical assistance to a group of utilities that share resilience priorities, with an emphasis on identifying adaptation options for implementation. Following these assessments, the CRWU team will use the four exercise examples to develop one-day, virtual workshops open to other utilities and communities in the entire climate region. These workshops will provide presentations on CREAT, as well as the case studies of above-mentioned utilities. All work is planned to be completed in the fall of 2021.
