Today Jen Easterly was sworn in as director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), following the Senate’s unanimous approval of her in a confirmation vote yesterday. She takes over leading the agency from CISA Executive Director Brandon Wales, who has served as acting director since November. Easterly previously served as the deputy for counterterrorism at the National Security Agency and as the senior director for counterterrorism on the National Security Council. She is expected to work closely with Chris Inglis, who was sworn in yesterday as the first national cyber director following his confirmation vote in June (as WaterISAC reported on in the June 22 Security & Resilience Update). Together they fill two key cybersecurity leadership positions in the Biden administration. Read more at The Hill and CyberScoop.
