On Friday, Russian law enforcement officials raided dozens of addresses of suspected criminals associated with the REvil ransomware gang. The Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation says that they detained 14 individuals believed to be part of the REvil operation and seized millions of dollars of currency. The REvil gang is responsible for two of the more impactful ransomware attacks in 2021, the JBS meat incident and the Kaseya supply-chain attack. Eight of the fourteen detained individuals are currently facing charges in Russia for their illegal activity. This latest law enforcement operation follows other arrests from U.S. and European agencies in November.
