This week, EPA published the Pandemic Resilience Guide to help drinking water and wastewater utilities become more resilient to pandemics. The guide covers best practices and real-world examples related to pandemic resilience collected from the ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic. “The information in this guide was gathered from a series of 2020/21 state-level virtual workshops conducted for California, Indiana, and New York to facilitate the sharing of initial actions, experiences and lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic among invited drinking water and wastewater utilities and their emergency response partners,” according to EPA. The guide contains four main sections: supply chain issues for cleaning products and personal protective equipment, staffing key positions, returning to work, and communications/information sharing.
