The U.K.’s National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) published a guidance highlighting how organizations can better secure their data in cloud environments. The NCSC emphasize its important to use a cloud provider that is secure by design and by default, and one where the provider helps your organization meet its security responsibilities.
Cloud security entails shared responsibility, with the provider and customer both responsible for ensuring their protection. According to the NCSC, “it ultimately comes down to the fact that the cloud service itself needs to be designed and operated securely by the cloud provider, and their customers need to configure and use it in a way that appropriately secures their data.” Therefore, the NCSC recommends choosing a cloud service provider that is secure by design and by default.
