As stay-at-home and other COVID-19 restrictions are being lifted and busy centers of activity return, the UK’s National Counter Terrorism Security Office is reminding the public that the threat of terrorism has not gone away and of the availability of a free eLearning counterterrorism training course. The course has been available since 2019 (WaterISAC reported on it in the December 12, 2019 Security and Resilience Update), and UK officials have reported that tens of thousands of people took the training during lockdowns. “It’s an incredible number. We wanted to encourage more people to take the course…as it can easily be done when you are working remotely, but the enthusiastic response has been even better than we had hoped,” said Deputy Assistant Commissioner Lucy D’Orsi. The course is made up of seven modules and, in total, takes just 45 minutes to complete. Read the press release and access the course at the UK’s Counter Terrorism Security Office website.
