FEMA has made available new support materials to assist state and local governments with applying for funding through its Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP).
The materials include information for the most requested HMGP project types for various mitigation activities, such as acquisition, elevation, flood risk reduction, hurricane wind retrofitting, and soil stabilization. FEMA intends that they aid eligible entities with submitting more successful HMGP applications. It also hopes the materials will also help reduce time it takes to receive awards and that HMGP funding will reach more communities. This program provides funding to help develop hazard mitigation plans and rebuild in a way that reduces or mitigates disaster losses in their communities. When requested by an authorized representative, this grant funding is available after a presidentially declared disaster. Access the support materials at FEMA.
