FEMA has released the fourth version of its Public Assistance Programs and Policy Guide, which will go into effect on June 1, 2020 and be applicable to incidents declared on or after this date. This document is intended to serve as a comprehensive program resource that describes FEMA Public Assistance policy in a single volume and provides an overview of the program implementation process with links to other publications and documents that provide additional process details. The mission of the Public Assistance Program is to provide assistance to state, local, territorial, or tribal governments and certain types of private non-profit organizations so that communities can quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies. Through this program, FEMA provides supplemental federal grant assistance for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and the restoration of disaster-damaged, publicly owned facilities and specific facilities of certain private non-profit organizations. The program also encourages protection of these damaged facilities from future incidents by providing assistance for hazard mitigation measures. Access the guide at FEMA.
