Smart Water Magazine has written an article covering a study by researchers from the University of Canberra that examines the relationship between precipitation frequency and intensity. Researchers found that understanding how often it rains annually within a region could produce a useful prediction of the size and likelihood of extreme rainfall. This is a new linkage between these two variables as, currently, weather and climate research treats them entirely separately. Scientists hope that further study into this casual linkage will help produce more early and accurate predictions for extreme rainfall events. Read more at Smart Water Magazine.
