At 11:00 am ET this morning, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported a weather disturbance is expected to become a tropical storm and could bring tropical-storm-force winds to portions of the Florida east coast over the weekend (if it does form, it will be called "Humberto"). A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect in Florida from Jupiter Inlet to the Flagler-Volusia County Line, meaning tropical storm conditions are possible within the area within 48 hours. The NHC also reports heavy heavy rainfall and scattered flash flooding is possible this weekend in coastal sections of eastern Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Depending on the track of the system, heavy rainfall could reach eastern North Carolina next week.

As the forecast cone from the NHC illustrates, this system may follow a track very similar to Hurricane Dorian. AccuWeather also advises that it's not out of the question that the system could develop into a hurricane.
