April 15, 2014 Physical Security Assessments by DHS Protective Security Advisors

WaterISAC hosted a webcast on the physical security assessment program of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Protective Security Advisor program on April 15, 2014. Known as Site Assistance Visits (SAVs), these assessments inform facility owners and operators about security vulnerabilities and gaps as well as protective measures to increase preparedness for all hazards, including terrorist attacks. SAVs are conducted by DHS Protective Security Advisors, who are security experts located in all 50 states and Puerto Rico where they serve as direct links between DHS and state and local critical infrastructure partners.

WaterISAC's guest was Frank Westfall, a DHS Regional Director and Supervisory Protective Security Advisor. Mr. Westfall discussed the different facets of SAVs, including how to request one, what to expect, and follow-on activities. Read more about the PSA program and SAVs.
